3 Breast Health Tips for Breast Health Awareness Month

Let’s talk about breast health ⬇️

October is #breasthealthawareness month, but while everyone is talking about screenings and early detection, I want to talk about PREVENTION.

Real prevention is about the lifestyle choices we make every day. Here are 3 to think about:

1️⃣ Avoid Hormone-Disrupting Chemicals

Chemicals that mimic estrogen are commonly in lotions (parabens), plastics (phthalates), pesticides (glyphosate), and even cash register receipts (BPA).

2️⃣ Eat the Rainbow

Colorful fruits, veggies, and spices are rich in antioxidants to support breast health. Some foods that are especially beneficial for breast health include broccoli, mushrooms, and turmeric.

3️⃣ Reduce Alcohol

Alcohol can increase levels of estrogen and/or alter estrogen metabolism. Compared to women who don't drink at all, women who have three alcoholic drinks per week have a 15% higher risk of breast cancer.

Breast health is not only an issue for women. Men and women alike can benefit from these suggestions.

I hope you learned something!

Here’s to healthy breasts!
